Hello from Chicago!

Welcome from Fort Worth! How do you like that Wrangler? I could use a low-drama .22.

I like it a lot! Fun little gun.

That's good to know! Is a CCP hard to get in Chicago?

You need to take a two day course (16 hours total) with a qualified instructor. Once you submit the proper paperwork, with proof of your training, I believe it takes a few months. Illinois slow-moving bureaucracy meant that my FOID card (required by state law to be either granted or denied within 30 days of application) took well over 9 months to get.

I've heard the CCP takes a lot less time, on average, even during the current craziness.

Mike,

Greetings from Lake County, IL ... where do you shoot?

I recently purchased my first s&w - a Shield Plus. Made the purchase at DS Arms in Lake Barrington.

You're want for a 686 - that's a fine revolver. I'm pining for a 586 with the 6" barrel, but have to scratch the 1911 itch before I buy the wheelie ...

Hello!

I've been driving over to a place in the western suburbs called Midwest Guns.

I've also used the range up there in Zion, where my mom lives.

How about you?

IL CCL turn-around time

I've heard the CCP takes a lot less time, on average, even during the current craziness.

I took my CCL class and filed the application 2nd week of December, 2020. I had my CCL in-hand about 100 days after filing.

I know at least two people who are waiting more than 10 months for their CCL renewals.
