Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Hunted mostly quail and white-winged dove, but occasionally went deer and javelina hunting, too. My dad and older brothers taught me how to properly handle firearms at an early age, so am very comfortable around them, like many folks from Texas are.
Relocated to the Seattle area in 1988, so this is home, now. Will hit the big 5-0 later this year, and am interested in getting back into handgun ownership for home protection and range fun. Have kept a Winchester Defender for home protection, until now.
Thanks in part to all the good comments on these boards, am initially leaning towards a 686 plus for the protection part, and either a Ruger or Browning .22 for the plinking/range part. Have significant experience from the old days with both Smiths and Rugers, so know them well.
My CPL ("concealed pistol license" here in Wa state) arrived earlier this week, so am really looking forward to attending some local shows and making prudent acquisitions.
