Hello from Israel

Welcome John!

With the very real risk of multiple aggressors with automatic weapons, I might feel a little undergunned with a compact 9mm, but certainly better than strong words, rocks, or trying to run away.

Sounds like you need to add a rifle and maybe a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with buckshot to your inventory.
Is that allowed in Israel ?

Shalom from South Carolina. With a Shield and an M4 you are off to a good start. I have 45 auto and an M1 rifle, among others, but I am probably a couple of generations older than you :-)

Welcome to the campfire.

ברוכים הבאים למדורה

Now that you are here, if you get a minute you might think about posting in the Lounge the current situation in Israel with respect to owning firearms. I know it has changed this past year.

Be safe!

עֲלֵיכֶם שָׁלוֹם john_sacrimoni,

Welcome to the forum. I'm Gun Owners of America's Florida State Director and Puerto Rico/US Virgin Islands Director of Outreach. We're a national gun rights organization and we fight tooth and nail to make sure that the people are never disarmed.

As the son of Cuban refugees that fled Communism. I understand the horrors of when governments turn on their people. Especially since I grew up in Miami with a large Jewish community too.

I grew up listening to people recount the horrors of the Nazis and the Communists.

Never Again means something to me.

Again, welcome to the forum. Stay armed, stay safe, and if you have any questions, by all means ask. This place has a wealth of knowledge.
Appreciate the warm welcome my friend

Welcome! My Bible says those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel "I will curse." Hang in there, bro. Can you tell us what the rules are now for purchasing and possessing firearms?
IL laws are strict for holding personal firearms. you would have to either live in a place that is defined as permitted (very close to boarder), or work in a job that requires firearms, or have a combat experience.
TBH I dont think its bad to have limitations, as we have many cases of terror attacks in public places and the danger of someone not responsible or trained handling the issue or have problems with identification between a terrorist and a civilian, might result greater casualties . We have enough soldiers in vacation that are carrying rifles around and together with those that got a permit, there is a lot of coverage. The case here for carrying is different (not burglary or other criminal activity) so I like the balance of having more firearms but with serious checks on who holds them.

Personally, I would go for one of the Heavy Barrel Israeli FAL's they used way back more than 50 years ago. Failing that, I'd go for a Galil, nu? .45 Auto is a good choice, too! The only problem with classics...? Makes it harder to settle for the new stuff! 😁

Welcome John from the forested mountains of the Pacific Northwest! Well wishes to you and all Israel!

Another Welcome from the Pacific Northwest! This is an amazing site with lots of knowledgeable people.

My prayers for your and your family's protection.

Welcome from the Gettysburg, PA area. I'm known as the guy who spreads around American Golden Dollar coins and hopefully some joy with them. I'm interested in just about anything that really grabs my attention.
