Newby but have proudly owned a S&W Model 41 that was built in 1962. Immaculate shape, dark bluing in tact. Shoots like a dream and is a "tack driver" with stock iron sights. Has the cocking indicator on the rear of the slide. Only shoot it rarely.
Joined here as I by chance purchased a 9MM 6690 RSR and since they're rare, my version ony 853 in 1982-83 assembled by RSR I couldn't find any accurate info. E-mailed S&W and they just replied and said buy the collectors catalog, around $40 to get more info. Luckily I didn't as info was even sketchy to say the least. So many friendly S&W enthusiasts on this forum directed me to sources which have now filled in the blanks S&W couldn't. This accurately out shoots my Glock. Not planning on shooting it to preserve it's condition.
Now proudly own 2 great american guns.
