What I want to know about the M&P40 is why they are making that gun but not the 39 anymore?
Nothing inherantly wrong with poly, but why no more love for all metal guns? (The public's ongoing love with the 1911 notwithstanding)

Why the love for polymer? Well, much cheaper production costs associated with injection molding vs machining metal (once you've paid off the molds, of course) so the manufacturers love it. Lighter-weight, corrosion-resistance and the newness of polymer="gee whiz factor" which all appeal to the market.
For me though, just give me some good ol' wood & steel and I'll be happy.
(I do like my Glock, but I LOVE my S&W's.)
