Hello from NEPA!

Although new to this forum, I've been shooting since the 50's. (Thanks Dad! And thanks to the Marine's training in the 60's.) But, I've lost the last several years to "locking shoulder" and back problems. (You can say my back is shot!

I'll stop the puns and just say I'm becoming active again. I hope to find an indoor pistol range and refresh my skills. I already picked up a hunting license so that I can use the Game Commision's ranges.

I have several S&W handguns and a unique (to me) S&W rifle made in Sweden. I look forward to learning from you folks!

Bill, welcome from Missouri. I had the same problem with a frozen sholder several years ago. Got to where I could not pour a cup of coffee with that arm. Had surgery and am much better. I've been doing a lot more shooting now. Talk with your Doc and enjoy the forum.

My shoulder wouldn't let me comb my hair or put my hanky in my back pocket. I couldn't even lay in the Honolulu sand without being in pain! (My daughter lived there for several years.) It was my right shoulder, and I'm right handed. It was a painful frustrating experience. Well, thanks to a good doctor, shots, and lots of therapy, I have use of it again. However, the muscle mass lost on my right side, due to non and/or restricted use is very apparent. I have not fired my shotgun since, and I'm leary about firing my rifles. If you have done so, did it cause a return of the condition?

(If anyone is wondering what locking shoulder is (layman's term), it's "adhesive capsulitis" (sp?) and before I had it I never knew about it, nor that is was not uncommon. Frequently bought on by things like a sportsmans injury.)

I was in the navy, but I was trained by the Marines; 1911, M1, self-defense, hand-to-hand and shore patrol duty. (I'm sorry if my comment about being trained by my dad and the Marines was ambiguous.)
