I just bought my first pistol, the S&W M&P .45ACP. Nice weapon. I held the Glock, Sig Sauer, FNP and finally the Smith and I was sold. I rented a pistol at a local range and put 50 rounds through it and I bought it that day, I pick it up next Tuesday. I will need to take some basic pistol courses and I would also like to know what gun cleaning kit is recommended as well, I know that proper gun maintenance is critical.

You should be very pleased with your M&P. I carry the 45 ACP M&P as my duty sidearm and love it.

As far as cleaning, follow the instructions listed in the manual, it is pretty clear.
