Hello everyone:
I am so happy to be here and now that I have a beautiful Model 59 polished stainless, I am going to enjoy the site greatly as I have checked it from time to time to read very helpful tips given to those who have asked for them when I searched for answers to questions that friends have asked me when they needed help.
My Smith & Wesson Model 59 is a special one to me as it was sold to my father before 2007 by my brother when he owned his gun store in Michigan and he was killed in a motorcycle vs. deer accident in 2007. So this pistol has a special place in my heart.
During a discussion with my dad on the phone, he mentioned wanting to trade it in on a S & W Governor.
He talked about getting a Governor for years but I wanted to keep the pistol in the family and I told him that I would get him his Stainless/Alloy Governor and take the Model 59 in trade. He didn't waste any time and shipped the Model 59 to me here in Florida and boy was I shocked! I never saw such a beautiful gun and I cannot find another anywhere on the internet like it. Someone had it polished back when. I've seen polished nickel Model 59's and thought, well maybe. But everyone I show it to, even my local gun dealer buddy said that no, that is polished stainless. I am finding very few if any really, that resemble my Model 59! How many styles of the Model 59 did they make? BTW, I found his Governor new in the box in north Florida for $800 and he is pleased as pie and to me, that's all that matters.
Anyway, I will not clog up my introduction with questions and bring more questions to the boards! I would however like to say thank-you for having me and I'm sure I will be able to make the most of my Model 59 here, with the advice of others.
