I was introduced to firearms 57 years ago when my dad began his career as an LEO. I grew up with his service revolver and hunting rifles in the home. He taught me to shoot his .38 (in those days, it was one handed, Weaver stance) and I owned an inexpensive 9 round H&R .22 revolver for target practice.
Now, in my mid 60s, after not even holding a handgun for 33 years, I have made the decision to exercise my 2A rights as well as take responsibility for my personal defense. This spring I joined the NRA, took a basic 16 hour handgun use and safety class at the local range, secured my CCW permit, and purchased two firearms. I visit the range weekly and get on-going training and coaching from one of the rangers.
