HELP 5.5" barrel for M41

hi all just wondering if anyone can help me. im from ireland and ive a friend going to the states and i really want a 5.5" barrel. and only way i can get one is to have my friend bring it home in their bag.
now ive looked at midway, bullseyegear etc but i cant find any in stock. so can anyone point me in the right direction of somewhere that has them in stock?

Over at Rimfirecentral I've read that these are all out of stock, I think Bullseye was predicting a late January arrival of more barrels from Smith.

As for bringing a gun barrel in a bag to and from overseas, not so sure about that one; I'll leave that to others to chime in on but I don't think I'd want to be the guy carrying that bag when meeting up with a TSA agent!

I would suspect it would have to go thru a registered dealer the same as it would to enter Canada. There are a few parts we are allowed to buy up here but it is very limited as to from whom we can buy them from due to the licencing restictions. Thats the current way and probably may be the same for him also.

guys i know have brought home barrels and had no issues. one guy told them that he had them showed licences etc and they let him bring it home.
hopefully it will be ok im getting them to ask on the airport before i buy anything.
so their isnt any in stock apart from s&w? ive e mailed them with no reply but then again they are prob on the x mass break!!

They're out there to be had . Just have to look . Ain't no one around here wants to go to jail , myself included . I'm sure if you Google'd gun parts & gun dealers you'll find some pretty soon .

If you can bring it back, it will have to be in checked luggage, not carry on. Sounds like it will be a tough one to get approval on though.

i dont see how you would go to jail for offering some advise. im not asking you to sell me one just to point me in the right direction to where i could buy one.
my friend sent a e mail to airport security to see if their would be a issue with this. and they were told that its only a part as long as their isnt a reciever in the bag their wont be a issue. and just to declare it on check in and they said you dont need a licence to buy a barrel in the states so its fine.
so if anyone could give me a link to somewhere that mite have one in stock id be grateful.
ive looked on alot of sites and cant find factory ones so clark mite be the way to go. ive spoken to them all ready about this. id perfer open sighted shooting but if needs b ill get a clark and stick on a red dot or aristocrat sight.

Midway USA said they were expecting a shipment February 2nd and that 26 were already pre-paid on back order (though they ordered more than that of course!). So they're a few weeks away at that location. I'd heard someone mention about the same timeline from Bullseye Gear too.

yes i was in contact with bullseye and they told me their on back order and not sure when they will be takeing delevery of them.
my friend is in the states from today untill 21 of jan. im waiting to hear back from s&w but for the money they want id have a clark barrel. so was hopeing to get it from bullseye or somewhere as their at least $100 cheaper then from s&w
