I can't find a Storm Lake 40 to 9mm for Core Pro 4.25" carried by anyone. I even went to storm-lake.com and filled out the thing, copied the model number (SW-MPP-9MMC-425) and googled it and still can't find that barrel carried by anyone.

Can I use the standard M&P FS 40 to 9mm? I guess I could try to call Storm Lake but seeing as they don't appear to sell direct I am not sure what good it will do.

Thanks

From everything i'v read you can use a factory s&w barrel. I'm sure tons of guys on here will back that up.

Many months ago I bought an OEM 9mm barrel from Midway for my 40C and have not looked back. There are many threads on here about this subject- it has been covered ad nauseum but the bottom line is there are many, many others like me who have never had a single issue dropping in an OEM barrel to convert a .40 to 9mm.

I didn't know the OEM ones work so finding that storm lake one is a moot point. I thought you had to use a conversion barrel and I couldn't find one, otherwise I wouldn't of posted. Thanks a ton!

Now you have to find a stock barrel. Try all the big guys, like Midway, Brownells, etc. Also try Guns and Gear Outlet. Phone them at 413 786-0100. I was able to get a stock 9mm barrel for my Shield 40, from them.

Midway had them in stock when I looked today but I didn't order it because I just ordered the gun last week (still waiting on it) then I saw M&P 9MM mags in stock so I ordered 2. Ordered an Old Faithful holster kit, bought 100 rounds of 9mm last night.. Need to order some 40 cal.. I'm about tapped out!

My gun came in Thursday. With .40 cal it's ran perfectly. Only shot 50 rounds or so but of those 50 rounds its been great.

My 9mm mags came in Saturday and my 9mm barrel from midway came in today (OEM S&W). I didn't have a lot of time to play with it but I installed the barrel and loaded a mag with a handful of 9mm and went out side.

I had multiple Failures to Feed in the first mag. The round would be stripped from the mag, but the nose of the bullet would get hung at the top of the chamber. Pull the slide back, let the round drop out of the gun, chamber another. Fire, same result.

Second mag (9 rounds) only did it once. So far I have only tried Federal 115gr (the red and black 100ct box walmart sells for $22) but I have some WWB I'll try as soon as I can.

All I did was apply a little oil to the exterior of the barrel when I put it in. This was also using the 9mm mags.

Will post pictures later

EDIT: I made time to run 10 rounds of WWB with no issues. It may just be the ammo. I'll scrub the barrel and chamber real good and hopefully by Saturday I can run a box of both through it and know if its the ammo or not

Were those the S&W mags, or that off brand they were selling for awhile? Sounds like a mag problem to me, never had a problem with the conversion on mine. S&W barrel, factory mags.

They are S&W mags. I tried a different magazine and things improved some. Tests are kind of inconclusive though as I have to work the rest of the daylight hours.

Okay so a .40 can be converted to 9mm, but can a 9mm be converted to .40? if so, what do you need to change? barrel, spring? and slide? plenty of .40 s&w in my area but no 9mm..... if you are wondering. It has been like that since the beginning of this ammo shortage.

Short answer, no.

Long answer, only with a lot of machining work.

My solution was to build a M&P40 slide assembly, and swap the complete slide assembly on the frame when I wanted to change calibers. Not the cheapest solution, but as I also wanted different sights for different kinds of shooting, this worked out well. Of course, I still needed both sets of magazines.
