Help for a newbie inherited Model 36 ANK0***

I recently inherited a Model 36 serial number ANK0***.

Can anyone help me out with the history of this revolver?

Welcome to the forum. That gun was probably manufactured in the mid-1980s. The standardized modern seven-digit alphanumeric serial numbers (three letters/four numerals) first appeared in 1981, I believe.

Other than that, the M36 is a classic small-frame S&W. It was first introduced in 1950 as the Chiefs Special.

Shoot it safely and in good health.
