I came across recently a very nice condition Model 24-3 wire a 3" barrel. The gun has a RB but unfortunately is wearing oversized Pachmayr grips. Serial number is AEJ2100. There is a box, but it wasn't available to photograph.

Is this possibly one of the Lew Horton run from 1983-4?
Thanks!

If it is a Lew Howton, which I expect it is, someone sold the combat grips for $250 or more which is what you'll have to pay to replace them so figure that into your offer. Looks like a nice gun.

It's very possibly a LH. How many above the original 5000 Sid Smith make?
I found my 3" 24-3 last Valentines Day at the Vegas Bass Pro; luckily it was still wearing its original combats. After vet discount $783

Call S&W with the serial # and ask if they have a production code for that number. If they do, compare it to the Standard catalog for the Horton guns. It might be new enough that they have it. Could be a Lew Horton or an overrun gun.

I just missed one that had the combat grips which were modified and a 4 inch presentation box for $995.

I bought this 3" Model 24 a few years back. Hard to find in CA and the price was in the $600.00 range.

It came with factory round butt combat grips which, although very nice I'm not really a fan of. They're too big for the 3" stuff and don't offer enough purchase for the 6" N frames, especially lugged guns. So I put them on a 5" Model 625.

The service grips here are Thai made and fit well, and they're a tad wider than the current laminated stuff. BK grip adapter of course.
