Greetings All. Signed on to this forum in hopes of getting some help identifying an older S&W copy. It is a copy of the double-action break top in .38 S&W, nickel plated with a 6" barrel and mother of pearl grips. On the right side of the frame there is a logo, the letters A and C, overlaid, within a horseshoe shaped figure of a snake. Logo size is a bit smaller than a dime.
On the barrel, where S&W has their name and address, it reads;
"Smith & Wesson's Metalic Cartridge, Caliber .38
Below this line there are a number of patent dates.
At a glance, this old copy looks like a S&W. The barrel markings are a bit deceptive as they are also styled to look like the S&W address line. There are no proof marks and no county of manufacture.
Thanks in advance for any information.

It is probly spanish, and I bet it is a "Garate Y Anitua Cia" made gun. You might try a google search on that make, and see if a picture looks like your revolver.

arfmel hit in on the head.
The mark you described is a Garate, Anitua Cia of Eibar Spain trademark on "La Lira" pistols.

Thanks to you both. I did a search and found some pictures of a Garate Y Anitua Cia revolver, at collectiblefirearms.com, that clearly showed the logo I described.
Another mystery solved!
