Help, Identify Bag?

Would anyone know if this was a Military issue tool bag or something along those lines? Taking a guess that it was military issue do to the numbers and the green color canvas. Anyone know what it is? Thanks in advance.

That would be a military mechanics tool bag. I use one as my range bag. They're pretty handy. I have one for tools too of course.

I have a similar bag which I picked up at some sort of GI surplus vendor, and it was referred to as a "tool bag" or something similar, and the implication was that it was genuine GI surplus. A handy size to hold a few boxes of shotshells, and the accessory pouches on the side hold choke tubes, wrenches, &tc. It evidently was designed to hold something fairly heavy, as it's robustly built...

That looks to be cotton rather than nylon, which probably puts it late 60's or early 70's. I think by the mid 70's they were switching to nylon.

All our PSD boats had one of the cotton variety. Amazingly they were used to hold the engineer's tools!

I do the same thing, have used one for years as a shaving kit. Not only does it last forever, it matches my primary luggage, a parachute bag. I also have one I actually carry tools in when I am out in the woods.

Looks exactly like the one I carried to the flight line for minor problems on B66's and F84's. (You younger ones might not recognize those model #'s, they are from the 50's).

We called them "Tanker's Tool Bags". I have one I use as a range bag for staplers, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.

Have one in the car trunk holding tools. Another in the basement holding deer hunting stuff. One more holding 20rd AR-15 magazines.

Useful tool bags.

I have a matching set of luggage too. A mechanic's tool bag and a flyer's A-3 kit bag.

Alot of you guys are using yours however just curious what's the thing worth. 5-10-15-20 bucks or alot more? Not looking to sell it just don't know if it's become collectible much or not that maybe I should retire it.

Not sure they are collectable, but they are handy. I carried one for 4 years working on C130's. The side pouches will easily carry one loaded M16 20 round magazine each.
