Help identify this 22

[Walkin Horse]

This was dropped in my lap today at a birthday party. My surrogate mother found it in a dresser drawer. She doesn’t if it was her husband’s or his dad’s.
The pictures aren’t good because I was in a hurry. The woman sitting next to me was freaking out because of the g-u-n. She actually spelled it.
What I noticed is the S&W mark is in a different spot than the others I’ve viewed.
No model number and I didn’t get the s/n.
Thanks for any help. I may be able to acquire it.

Appears to be a K-22 Outdoorsman. They made them 1931 to 1939. Here is mine that shipped in April 1937.
Edit: On July 21, 1936 Harold Wesson issued a directive to move the logo from the left side to the right side. Like always it took a while for the change to take effect. My K-22 that shipped April 6, 1937 still has the logo on the left.

If it did in fact belong to the FIL, it’s possible he bought it new in Blackstone Va. He died at 90, and that was 35 years ago.
What is the procedure to get a letter on the gun?

The logos moved back and forth from the left frame to the sideplate on the right side depending on the model and the time period. As others have stated, it is legit and a nice example, get it away from the "triggered" G.U.N. crowd asap before someone has it destroyed or sells it to the local pawn shop.

Search S&W factory letter on google and you will see the process, or search the forum......

I thought you meant it was gifted to you, but apparently she was seeking info, or your input on its disposition. It would be a nice pickup if you could swing it.

Sharing your appreciation of its old-school appeal can help the uninformed see it as a classic tool and not some evil item.

A sincere "Let me know if you ever decide to sell it" gets your interest across without seeming pushy.

Added - I forgot to mention the obvious : beautiful gun!
