Here's a pic of grips that came off an early .38 M&P.

They sure look altered to me. Can anyone help identify them?

Thanks!

Look like a pair of Victory grips that have been converted from a convex
style to a concave ( but flat ) style. Something also gouged the inner
side of that one panel.

I'd say they are early K frame that someone has either sanded off the checckering, or it has worn off. You can still see the remains of the border. If they were Victory grips they would probably have a stamped sn

Gary, I think you're right. The early ones were checkered with a border. These are fairly well worn.

Its possible that they were sanded out - but that takes out a lot of wood. It
also tends to leave flat, or uneven spots, not to mention having to lower the
height of the escutcheon quite a bit. Typically, the edging around the diamond,
that surrounded the escutcheon, is a fairly deep cut - but there doesn't appear
to be any remanent of the diamond.

I'd still vote for Victories that have been worked on a bit. Perhaps someone cut
that border on them.

Thanks, Mike.

I've had a chance to do a little reading up on early M&P's. These grips came off an early one (1906-1909). When I first looked at them I thought they might be an after-market or home made. I think they're just worn.
