I know this a 5 screw pinned not recessed, 6 inch barrel, the number on the frame inside the crane matches the number on the crane, adjustable rear sight (post war type) and it has been nickel plated. I got it for $200 and would like to know if it's worth the $100 to get the letter?

It's a K-38 Masterpiece dating to about 1948. It has been re-nickeled at some point in it's life. 38 spls were not recessed.
It's worth the price you paid but personally I wouldn't letter it.

Target masterpiece from 1948 timeframe. Although not original still a good buy at $200 but likely not worth the price of a letter.
