Help Identifying an Airweight 37 (.38 Special)

Hey gang,

I inherited this pistol from my grandfather about 10 years ago. I have not done extensive research on it other than looking into the model and potential year that it was made. The gun is in incredible condition, it doesn't appear to be fired more tan a dozen times or so.

I keep the gun in a case in my safe but it's taking up room. I may look to sell it, if I get a decent offer, since it is somewhat of a collector's piece, it's aluminum, and I am now looking for something that I can shoot more often (1911).

I would really appreciate any additional information that you can provide me:

Model: S&W Airweight .38 SPL. CTG. Model 37
Serial number on yoke: 18401 (stamped circle #19)

The serial number is on the bottom of the grip. That is an in factory number on the yoke. Looks to be in good condition. Will need the SN for the info you need. You can use x for the last few of the number if you desire.

Gorgeous memento from your Grandfather.

I have a railroad pocket watch from Dad's Dad and a stunning silver boot tie clasp from Mom's Dad. They don't take up much space in the safe, but if I were cramped for space I'd sell something else to be able to keep those two treasures.

jeremy, I am so glad you are keeping Grandpas gun. I carry that exact gun right in my hip pocket. Im working with a dealer down here in SoFl, and they do not move real quick. Just like Mod-12s and 38s. Good choice.
