I won an auction item last week at the SWCA Symposium, carved N-frame stocks. The right panel is marked on the inside with "Design Carved By NW". I am curious if anyone here on the forum can help me identify this wood carver.

For now, I have put them on a pre-war .38/44 Outdoorsman, and they feel really great! I know they are not correct, but I wanted a decent pair of target grips on this gun to replace the magna grips that are on it. Don't want to run the risk of damaging them.

I am to "blame" for those stocks. The wood carver sells on Ebay grips he has carved "on". I contacted him maybe 10 years ago about carving on a set of smooth N frames (the pair you now own). I sent them off and he sent those back. I had them up until maybe 3 years ago when I sold them here to another Forum member. The pics are a Colt of mine also showing his work. I can't recall his name, but I have seen he still sells "carved on" grips on Ebay ---at VERY reasonable prices ! It's nice to see those grips again. They are sort of an "old friend" :)

Those are cool. Over the years, I have seen some extremely nice carved S&W Target Style Grips. IIRC, I think many were done by Alvin A. White, and his work was second to none! I always wondered if there was someone doing grips kinda similar.
