Speaking of stocks...

I didn't want to take the focus from other threads, so I decided to post this one...I bought this pair of Magnas last weekend from a friend who had marked them as "pre-war"...I think they are most likely post-war, specifically 1952ish, but I was hoping to get some knowledgeable confirmation...They appear to have been relieved for a grip adapter by a previous caretaker and later coated with possibly lacquer...My guess is based on the rounded corners of the checking and the presence of the stamped number "149684" on the inside of the right panel...I looked in SCSW5 but couldn't exactly match mine with any of the pictured stocks there...Thanks for any direction here......Ben

Definitely post-WWII. The most significant tell is the rounded gutter corners around the checkering. Pre-war grips have sharp corners. Also, the stamped medallion washers are post-war. Pre-war were milled and open toward the back. Serial puts them around 1951 if they are K frame. They should be sharp-shouldered magnas but someone may have sanded the shoulder down. If they are N frame, date moves to around 1956. I have to say they look like K frames to me.

I set up there last October and, like most B/CS shows, turnout was light. I don't know why that area can't pull more walk-ins with a fairly conservative university with 70,000 students plus 200,000 locals.
