I am a new member. I have been reading posts on this site and have gotten some very helpful and informative information so I thought it was time to join.

I just purchased my second Model 60. The gentleman I bought it from was able to give me manufacturing info which, I believe, he got through this site.

I'm trying to identify my other one that I purchased a few years ago. It is a Model 60 no dash and the serial number is R174XXX.

I tried posting this a few minutes ago and when I attempted to review it, it disappeared. So I apologize if this is a duplicate post.

Nice looking revolver. Welcome to the forum.

1974 - 1977 is as close as I can get you. The R prefix was used on the Model 60 and 651 btw 1969 and 1983; R001 - R329001.

The 1974 - 1977 range was R100000-R190000. Assuming equal distribution (which didn't happen) yours may have been late 1976, early 1977.

All but the speculation compliments of the SCS&W Edition 3.

Thank you Mike! I kinda thought that was the approximate time but I appreciate the verification.

John
