I have come across what I believe to be an M&P. Diamond grips, serial on barrel, grips and butt. number is C 137096. The thing that is strange is the bottom of both grips are stamped GEN. MACDONALD. Any help would be great.
A photo would help here. Any other military stampings, like a U.S. on the backstrap? It may be a U.S. military contract gun, a personally owned revolver, or stocks from a different revolver entirely. If there is any question a factory letter may clarify matters.
C137096 would date it at 1950-51, likely the latter. Could well have been a personally-owned revolver. A little research into who GEN. MACDONALD was at that time period is warranted. Might have been someone of prominence in the Korean War era. However, there were a lot more Generals minted than most might suspect, and most of them were/are mainly program administrators, not combat leaders.

Thanks for the help. I have been over this thing with a jewelers loop and can find no military markings. The stocks are numbered to the gun and the lettering on the bottom of grips appears professionally done. I work at a large Pawn Shop in Montana and the pistol turned up here.
