Help Me Choose a Suppressed .22 Handgun

The downside with a integrally suppressed MKIV is that it will be mainly dedicated to that one gun.

I have one quality .22 suppressor that I use on at least 8 different .22 pistols AND rifles. Lots of versatility there. I've fired mine on a Ruger 10/22 side by side with a interally suppressed 10/22 and I would say the sound difference was marginal if not insignificant.

It’s a grand if you provide your own Ruger.

I’ve got less than that in this rig and I can move the suppressor between guns.

I was wondering why ATF suppressor approvals have become so much quicker than in the past. So, I asked ChatGPT:



I bought a suppressor last Friday. Entered my info into the SilencerShop Kiosk at the LGS — this is a gizmo that looks like an ATM — added some more info upon request via my iPad on Saturday, I think it was, checked my SilencerShop account/dashboard yesterday and it said it was waiting for something more, emailed the LGS w/ WTH?, he called me today and walked me through the online, Silencershop/ATF eform "Form 4" submission, five minutes tops, and now I wait... LGS says a few days to a few weeks.

Sure beats a year though.

This is good work by the ATF (surely under pressure, but still). Let's not cut ATF budget for eForm processing!

Still waiting for a Lobos mount to attach a Holosun 507C-GR to the Volquartzen 3.5" bbl, but was able to pick up the Ruger MKIV Tactical, the Volquartzen bbl, and the Bowers Paradigm suppressor at an LGS yesterday.



The Paradigm is 5" x 1" and weighs 2.1 oz.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but hope to rectify that soon.

Congrats, looks like a great setup. How long was the wait for approval? Oh, 18 days :cool: Ya gonna love shooting suppressed.

Green dot another plus. Moving in that direction myself.

Re wait for approval, I bought the suppressor and did the SilencerShop kiosk process on Friday the 31st. SilencerShop sent stuff back to LGS and me in a day or two. My LGS sent in the completed e-Forms to the ATF on Wednesday the 5th. ATF approval came back on Wednesday the 12th. I was waiting for some more stuff to show up, so picked up yesterday.

Sure beats waiting for a year...:)

Shot the suppressed MKIV with factory iron sights for the first time with my son, visitng for a few days, at the range. It shot low for both of us, so cranked up the elevation quite a bit. We had a good time.

Sure is quiet!

Spent a large part of the day today installing the Volquartzen trigger group. Arrrghhh! A gunsmith I am not. Had to go back and redo several times. Now reassembled, finally, and function check seems okay. Looking forward to checking out the new trigger.
 
An alloy framed HI POWER with a .22 kit from Jon Ciener, & Crimson Trace
grips. Can is an old SWR model, forget which one.

Smith 2213 with the SWR can

A Rock Island .22 with the SWR can

SIG 220 with a .22 kit & SWR can

Beretta 948 with the SWR can

High Standard 107 with the SWR can

High Standard HD Military with the SWR can

S&W M7P22 with SWR can

GSG5 .22 with SWR can

That's just a few of 'em.
Any suppressed .22 pistol is tons of fun.

I have two, and getting more in WA is a tough proposition (semi autos with threaded barrels at least).

The Kimber 1911 with .22 slide and a barrel professionally modified for external threads is fun to shoot...when it works. Even taking the mainspring down a couple of pounds isn't enough to make it reliable with subsonics.

The Kel-Tec P17 is fun to shoot, but very muzzle heavy with a can since the gun weighs almost nothing. 17 rounds goes quick when you're out plinking.

In retrospect a bull barreled gun would have been better, and maybe a CP33 as a big mag plinker.
 
Black Dog Machine. Got it from Tandemkross.

(My bbl is .85" and suppressor is 1.05" diameter. I increased the inside slot diameter of the holster to accommodate suppressor by wedging open the bbl slot by placing a putty knife handle in the opening below the trigger guard and leaving it for several days.)
