Help me! I want a new gun!!

Used S&W model 10 with a 4 inch heavy barrel or a used S&W model 64 with a 4 inch heavy barrel.

Funny you mention this one, I dropped in to one of the pawn shops I frequent that carries used guns today. They had an older model 10 in relatively good shape for $349.00 plus tax. For some reason, that price seemed a little high. I was thinking there was an online outfit that sells used Model 10s for around $269 plus shipping to your FFL. Anyone else remember seeing something like that, or is my imagination getting the best of me?

budsgunshop.com but I wonder if the one you look at is in better condition than the offerings online?

It would definitely be a S&W .38spl of some kind. Among all my guns, my 642 and my 36 are my favorite and both can handle +P's just fine. I'd probably go for another 642 and then get a double shoulder holster for them. I've had my 36 since the 70's and my 642 for about 3 years. Never a problem with either of them.

There's so many great used .357 Mag or .38 Special revolvers to be had for $500. That is where my focus is at this point. The new semi-autos are cool and all, but nothing has character/personality like Smith revolvers, and especially ones with the age. So my vote would be to find a model 10, or a later snubby model 19. Something along those lines. You can even get a newer (1990's) 686 with no lock for under $500 if you look around. Just ask me, I've done it.

I could buy a couple of nice used handguns for $500.00. I have less than that in this entire tray of S&W's.

$228.00 and change + tax in each of these S&W #66's. My son now has the 4" #66.

Ruger Blackhawk convertible SA revolver .357 Magnum / 9mm - just cause I've always wanted one. Also, now that I have my Marlin lever gun in .357 Magnum, I can justify a western rig for the revolver, with plenty of ammo loops so I can go play cowboy.

Dave

Well I finally went out and bought my new pistol yesterday. I had been looking at guns with a little less recoil that the wife might like to shoot. She does not care for either of my carry guns, the S&W 642, or the Glock 17. One shot and she hands it back and just says, "no thanks". Friend of mine and her husband own a gun store, so the wife and I went over there yesterday to check on my Ruger I dropped off with the gunsmith on Saturday. As I began looking at the guns in the cabinet she spotted the Sig P238 Equinox. My friend handed to it us to look at, and then she said they would make me a deal on it if we wanted it. The wife liked how solid the gun felt and so we got it. Now comes the fun part of getting to the range to let her shoot it. She already knows about the thumb safety, as my Ruger MK III 22/45 has a similar set up and she likes to shoot it. All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase. Thanks for all the great suggestions in this thread!

I was planning on buying a couple of bugs, probably a 442/642 and a kel tec, but since I dumped my money on my AR build that put the next handgun purchases on hold for a while.

under $500.00...

I did that today...put on lay-a-way and 649-1 for $350 and it is in great shape. No rust, and very tight! I am a happy camper.:D

Ruger SR9c 9mm or full size SR9

Stoeger Cougar compact (13 round) or full size (15 rounds) 9mm

You dont pick your next gun, it picks you....no wait that's for a puppy:rolleyes:

Most of my purchases are used, get a good gun at a good price.

I'm currently researching a 3rd Gen single stack 9mm, something along the lines of a 3913 or CS9. But I may just find a nice 4" 28-2 or 2" 66

All ones I've been thinking of along with maybe other 3rd gens as well. :)
My needs are taken care of, but I have a lot of wants. LOL

How about a Sig P250-2Sum. Get two guns for the price of one. The subcompact is about the same size as my M&P40C. I purchased the P250SC. Local store had them for $300. If they would have had the 2Sum for the $499 prices seen now, I would have bought that instead.

500 clams huh? Probably another 3rd. Gen or another K frame, I'd love too find a model 65 4 incher or a 681. Yeah, that's what I'd be lookin for! Dale

When I was a cadet at the Phila. Police Academy back in 1967, they used to have dealers come onto the property with samples of their firearms' stock. I constantly went to one who had the S&W Model 36 with a three-inch barrel, and I daydreamed. I couldn't afford an off-duty weapon at the time, but that's the one I always desired.

From the moment I picked it up, it felt like an extension of my hand, and gave meaning to the phrase, "natural point of aim." Now, that I have a few bucks, I find that particular revolver difficult to find, but when I do…
