Hi, I was watching a Hickok45 video on youtube, and he has a really nice 3" 686+ Talo model. It's so nice, that I think I might start looking around for one. The grips on his gun, though, don't look like the current production grips on the 686+ Talo. Can anyone tell me more about these grips? Are they still made? Where can I buy them?

Also, besides the grips, what are the main differences between a standard 686+ and the Talo edition?

Is there anything else I should know about the 686+?

Thanks!

No other differences between the Talo model and the standard production, just the grips. I'm not sure of the manufacturer of the grips in hickok45s video, but I can say if you are looking for a nice set of wood grips, there are many makers out there. Some are very high end ($150 and up), others middle of the road ($50-$100) and some that are under $50. If it's a boot grip you are looking for, I will always recommend Ahrend's grips. I don't own a boot grip personally, but have shot them and they feel and look great. Other than that, the 686+ is one fantastic handgun (I have a 4 incher, but the 3 has always caught my eye as a future purchase)

I want to say he mentioned picking them up off of Ebay on one of his videos. Probably from one of the "Thailand" grip sellers on there. I would look to Ebay first if you want those exact ones. Ahrends or Hogues would be my go to for wood though, even Altamont.

Another 686 version, is the Pro Series. Mine is a 5". Wearing Hogue stocks. Smooth trigger. Saw it, and HAD to HAVE it!

Hickok's grips appear to be Spegel Boot grips for the K/L gripframe
I think you're right on. I do recall him saying they were for an n frame that he cut down to fit, but haven't seen the video for a while.
