Thanks for all the input. After my wife nixed Smith & Wesson, we agreed to:
Jake (for Sparky) Jake was the name of the first dog I remember. A Pointer we had while I was growning up in Georgia many, many years ago.
Toby (for Spooky) BarbC, I hope you don't mind my borrowing your name, but Toby is a perfect fit for Spooky.
This week I take Toby to the vet for heart worm treatment. The vet says he so young and strong, shouldn't have a problem.
As soon as he gets back home and settles down, pictures will be coming.

Just got 2 dogs from the animal shelter. Mixed labs, about 2 yrs old. They came into the shelter together, think they're brothers because they're inseparable. The folks at the shelter named them Sparky and Spooky. Neither responds to their name.
My wife says the names are too close for the dogs to understand.
Make sense? Should I change names or just keep trying?
