Hi all,

I purchased an advertised NIB Bodyguard 380 from an FFL dealer out of state, that shipped to my FFL dealer. My dealer inspected it and said it is CLEARLY a used firearm. I took it (my first mistake? I'm a total noob) to another FFL down the street and they said the same thing after looking at it. Said lots of powder reside around the firing pin, barrel is filthy, magazine has marks on follower where it appears many rounds have been put in.

I understand the 380 is fired at the factory, but it seems REALLY dirty. I'm attaching pictures.

Can you give your opinion? I really like the BG380 but if it was advertised as new and I PAID the price of new, and got a used... that doesn't feel good. What say you.... new or used?

My wife's NIB 380 mag. looked like the last picture but that was all. I stripped it & cleaned it & had little to no residue in the barrel.

my magazine looked that way as well "NIB". i have since put a couple hundred rounds through mine. your pictures made me check the lens on my laser and mine looked a bit hazy too. lens cleaning wipe took it right off.

Thanks for taking the time to post, I certainly feel better after reading that this seems normal. Thanks again!

Mine also looked like that I mine was new also recieved it from a friend that holds an FFL, he ordered it for me.

I just bought one a few days ago. The follower was quite dirty on top and the barrel was not gleaming. Only very small amounts of grit or residue anywhere. Consistent perhaps with one or two rounds fired and only a quick wipe down rather than full cleaning.

they could have had to fire more than one round from it at the factory. clean it up then look for wear in the barrel.

I think all my S&W mags look like that when they are new. I don't know what they do at the factory, but I have bought used mags that look newer than the new mags.

alittle bit of brake clean on a rag took care of mine. Mine was pretty dirty as well when i got it new and cleaned it.
