Away from home so no book. I believe it to be a 4" mdl 10, ? factory nickel, J frame, without S&W monogram or made is USA markings, has center markings on top of barrel, with halfmoon sight. Grips are 50% with large gold S&W medallions number to the gun. Rust under grips, no factory rework markings. Trigger and hammer not nickeled, 5 screws, 38 cal. Ser number 29926x, asking 390> Appreciate comments. ? Maybe a police regulation??

Sounds like an M&P model 1905 4th. change made about 1916 or 1917, maybe earlier.
Unless in excellent condition or having an uusual feature or provenance $390 would be too much.

The Regulation Police was a 32cal. I frame.
Anything produced prior to 1957 was not a model 10.

Re nickel jobs can be good, condition is everything in value and even a shooter.

Old nickel M&P 50% stocks actual value maybe $150

What caliber is it (.38 S&W or .38 Special). Does the cylinder hold 5 or 6 shots?
