I'm a newbie here and need some help identifying a pistol.

Attached is a picture showing 2 pistols. I've (hopefully correctly) identified the one on the left as a Model 36. It's serial number is 284. I assume it may be from the early 50's.

The one on the right is the one I need help with. It takes a .22 long rifle cartridge (6 shots) It's serial number is 22552.

I would appreciate anyone's help.

Welcome to the Forum. The other posters have the correct IDs. The "baby Chief" is a very early one with the half-moon (not ramp) front sight and small trigger guard. Be prepared for the private messages asking if it is for sale :) . The 2" Kit Gun looks very nice as well. After 1957 these became the model 36 and 34 respectively. Hope this is helpful.

Little Guns..

The revolver on the left is an example of the earliest Chief Special, Pre-36 .38 Special a so called "Baby Chief" because of it's small trigger guard and short "Improved I Frame" grip.

The revolver on the right is an early Kitgun .22 Model of 1953.

I would say that both guns are from the early 1950's.

Lampshade? Drew is right. You have a "Baby Chief" and an early
2" 22/32 Kit gun. Both desirable in their own right.

How are things in beautiful Reno? Cold?

Welcome, and warmest regards.

Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply folks! My father was an enforcement officer for many years and I've had these since his passing. Just how desirable are these if I choose to part with them down the road??

Clear and cold in Reno!!

You should have no problem selling them at some time down the road because they are desirable, but they should be priceless to you because they were your dad's.

True....

They are in a way priceless, but I'm not a young man myself and no one else in the family wants them. They should move on so someone else can enjoy them. I know my father loved to trade and sell other guns. But, if I let them go I'd like to get their value.
