Hi, I have a S&W 686. The gun is over 20 years old and I have been shooting it on and off for many years. I use light loads almost all the time in the gun. As of late I have been having a problem with an empty shell getting caught under the extractor star and then being forced back into the chamber. I know this can happen when you don't have the gun in a vertical position when you extract the rounds but I do for the most part and this has not happened before. The parts of the gun seem alright, no excessive end shake in the cylinder, the extractor star is not loose, it does not seem worn, ect... What can be causing this? It might be me by not turning the gun up enough but as I said this has not happened in the past. I shot a match last week and this happened twice costing me time to clear it. Any advice would be a great help. Also does anyone know of a good gunsmith on Long Island, NY or any where near that area?
