HELP THE GUN COMMUNITY BY RECRUITING NEW MEMBERS.
Research shows that over 60% of people DO NOT own guns.
If we allow law makers to continue on their path, that number will drop and we will look like
the "gun-nut militia" they like to paint us as. In 2011 Gallup Inc, Gun Owners of America Poll shows that only 36% of people own guns!

  1. If you know someone who isn't a gun owner/anti gun/ invite them to go shooting with you. while with them, act accordingly, and teach them form, grip, etc. explain to them the differences between calibers, platforms, reason to own certain weapons, etc.
  2. If you know a single mom, your female family members, or any female who isnt a confirmed gun owner; invite her to go shooting with you. offer to teach her the ropes, and to get her on her way.
  3. If you have co-workers you can trust to not paint and smear you as some "right wing gun nut" in front of your boss - offer to take them to the range.

show them a good time, and afterwards grab lunch and a beer for more educational chit-chat. Show them that gun owners are not what the lame-stream media paints us out to be: inbred, toothless, white-trash, named Beavis, clinging to our Bibles. and certainly please dont push political rhetoric when after they get done shooting your AR15, they look at you and ask you: "so why does everyone hate 'em so much, if its actually not that bad" (regarding your AR15). Just politely tell them that its all passed down misconceptions being repeated by people who have good intentions at heart, yet little experience.

doing this will yield great results. not only will the "omg i had so much fun, i wanna go again!" bug set in, but it will also show those who otherwise wouldn't know - how guns are not this evil object with a mind of its own. and frankly, it will create some new gun owners, some new NRA members, and less constituents for the anti-gun law makers.

I'm on it! Actually I have been on it for over half a century. I love to introduce friends to the fun and excitement of shooting. Long guns as well as hand guns. I don't shoot skeet much these days because of the arthritis in my shoulders but back in the day.....

No telling how many folks, both male and female and even a few kids, I have brought to the world of guns. But I hear the importance of your message and I'm still on it. Glad to see someone thought to post this. It is an idea whose time has come.

Like Jack, I've been there done that .... but it's been a while. You stirred me up again. I have two new neighbors that need initiated. A couple co-workers need a nudge also. Thanks

I've actually held 2 firearms introductory get togethers in the past few months with members from my church.

The pastor asked me to carry during services a few years back and recently recommended me to some folks who expressed interest in learning about guns. It's gone well so far. I know a few shotguns and handguns have been bought recently by some of the people who attended my "course". It's really more of an introduction with lots of safety and other such information. Of course, some range time follows at the end.

My wife attends as is great when it comes to the ladies. She can relate much better to their concerns and answers questions like a pro. :)

THAT'S AWESOME.

but that doesn't mean the fight is over. it is up to every last one of us to step up, and "recruit".
  • recruit the to achieve a stronger current voting block.
  • recruit potential new NRA members.
  • recruit the future voting block - those who will rally, rant, rave when we are to old and frail to do it.
Since recent culture has deteriorated the image of guns and gun owners, who is to say that in a year from now, the stats don't point to even lower gun ownership rates? Lower rates would mean a victory for anti-gun types, and that means low enough rates for the law makers to achieve the required support for their anti-gun legislation's.

look at the last few years - the rates have dropped from 42% to 36%. by numbers - they are winning. dont think that buy you buying more guns, its sending a message. its not. its the NEW gun owners, that really count.

BOOM! you just touched on a great topic/subject.

GUYS GET YOUR GIRLS UP TO SPEED and then get them to recruit their girlfriends. its no secret that women now a days love power. be it by driving a large SUV, or having tattoos, or riding motorcycles, OR OWNING GUNS. they love to be equal or more powerful than their counterparts(men). which is great for everyone.

i have been getting my girl up to speed, trained, and ready to spread the knowledge. i know what i am doing. not only is she having fun, but she is learning a trade that can protect her - which makes me really-really happy. furthermore i am winding her up like a toy solder and setting her free to chat amongst her friends & family. sooner or later one of her 3 sisters or girlfriends will ask to tag along. that will be the chance to snag a new gun owner/shooter. and with any girl - will come her BF/Husband next to not feel emasculated.

i just got my older sister to shoot a gun. she HATED guns and feared them like crazy. i took her to the range and she shot pistols, AR's, etc. she loved every minute of it. furthermore, she realized that all types of people were at the range - not just the stereotypes she expected to see. Well guess what... her emasculated anti-gun husband wants to tag along next time! looks like i got 2 on the hook now! lol

to those who have recruited, keep up the great work guys. and to those who have not recruited: WAKE UP! its in our own best interest. step out of your circle of friends, and spread the knowledge.

Ive done a bit of recruiting lately. My next door neighbor is in HER upper 70s and just had a stroke a few months ago. Mrs. Y. knows I like enjoy guns and that I just bought another back in March. I finally convinced her that guns are not evil, living, breathing things. It took me awhile but-I convinced her to go to a range with me-and we spent the ammo I had had-for my .22. In April-she went to a local gun show and bought herself a nice hand gun.

Case Nr 2; Another neighbor of mine just turned 25-and told me he was given around $500 to spend on whatever he wished. He thought of spending it on an expensive cell phone--nope-I convinced him to buy a nice hand gun-which he has now enjoyed at the range at least twice. ;-))

Two employees at a local restaurant I haunt-asked me for advice on what kind of weapon they should purchase? I asked then their history on weapons and was told they had very limited knowledge about them but have been to a range a few times. I know a retired Texas Ranger and got them in touch wiht him-and the rest is history. Both bought 380s.

love it. thats a good story. she is lucky to have you as her neighbor. its nice to see people taking care the elderly(who once took care of us).

Thank you Spicy--as well as for your service too. All last year I never could get her to see why im so for the 2nd Amendment and such--until she actually (and first time ever) fired a rifle. I had not seen a smile as big as hers was-since I watched that "documentary" that piers morgan made for cnn-on guns--when he sat behind a Ma Deuce and fired a belt through it. ;-))
