Help with 3rd Gen Models

I had a 4516-1 which like a fool I sold for "something else" before I knew what I really had... Well, I want it back of course, or at least something similar (a heavy, compact, .45). My question to the brain trust is this: what models should I be on the lookout for in addition to 4516?

Well, in a steel frame the 4516 no dash, 4516-1, 4516-2 and the scarce 4516-3 which isn't marked as a "-3".

The 4516-3 simply says "4516" above the trigger guard. The visual cue is the laser etched markings on the slide. On the box label, an "03" will appear on the right side of the label.

In an aluminum frame the CS45, early 4513TSW with the cut out grip frame, 7-round later 4513TSW with full grip frame, 457, 457 stainless and the Performance Center Shorty 45 - Shorty 45 MKII and 45 Recon.

The Performance Center pistols are all very nice variations of the 4513. A little scarce, and a little pricey too. But I notice that nice 4516's rarely go for less than $550 these days. Hope this helps! Regards 18DAI

18DAI -- Thanks. Big help. Gives me a bigger target in my search. I've pretty much accepted that I may never come across a CS45. I'd love to though. I have seen a couple model 457 in the last two months but neither of them were in good enough condition for the money. To me anyway. I'm trying to hold out for what I really want.

Absent from an otherwise well-detailed list is the 4536. This is essentially a 4516 with a frame mounted decocker (ala 1076). Not many were made, and few ever bother looking on the auction sites, which can occasionally yield an overlooked auction. The slick slide makes for a nice carry package, should you happen across one.

The 457 and 457S don't fit the heavy criteria - they are alloy frame. But they carry nicely, and for me, shoot nicely as long as I am using 185 grain. Full bore 230 gives (me) a recoil that goes up and to the right. 185 just goes straight up. Easier to get the second shot lined up. For me. Might be different for you, or others.

Also, they'll be the least expensive of the options listed. By a none-too-small amount. Don't tell anyone else. I want to keep the prices down for me. I only have two, both blued. I need to pick up two-tone and SS versions.
