Help with 66-1 valuation please

I checked GB and they didn't have any 66-1's for comparison, only 66-8's.
My limited research leads me to believe the 66-1 was only made from 1972-1974, then they came out with the 66-2.

If I were the OP, I'd run, not walk, back to the gun store and buy it now, if it isn't already gone. A M66 no-dash was my 2nd but longest-owned, S&W I've had. I'd love to have it back. I found an old photo I made back in 1990 when I only owned two S&W's (have neither of them today). Made the picture for insurance coverage. Lousy quality, but you can still read the SN on the card.

Well I blew it....went back to look it over again and make an offer and it was gone. No one's butt to kick but my own for thinking too hard about it.
Same young lady showed me a new 66-8 but compared to the 66-1 it was like looking at a Taurus.

That's how it goes....
There are plenty of Combat Magnums out there so no reason to lose sleep.
btw a 66-1 would not have shipped in the early 70's

Stainless sights on a 66 stopped around late 1974. No 66 Dash-1 would have factory stainless sights. They really are awful too the light has to be just right. Forget them in an indoor range. Below is how I know, 1972 66.

My no dash 66.....and my most accurate revolver... I've owned it since the 70's....Their asking price is very fair....
