Hi folks I was at a gun shop today and found a nice looking 19-4 so I bought it. So far so good right then I took it to a range and shot about 40 rounds of Sig .38 spc through it the thing is crazy accurate but after the last 6 rounds the cylinder wont open. I have been a handgun shooter since about age 18 I'm now 57 never had this happen any suggestions or should I just take it to my local gunsmith?

Will the cylinder rotate? If so, then maybe remove the yoke screw and see if that relieves any tension. If that doesn't do anything then removing the side plate might be in order. If you're not comfortable with that, then yes. take it to a gunsmith.

Congrats on a fine find!

yes the cylinder turn's just fine the cylinder just won't open. thanks for such a quick reply

Most likely your extractor rod needs tightened.

If indeed this is this case then applying tension/resistance to the knurled end of the ejector rod and dry firing the cylinder might tighten it enough to open. If I'm not mistaken it would be reversed threaded and in theory this would work. Allowing for a little creative tightening. Disclaimer: I'm no expert and assume they are empty cases. Be careful and point it in a safe direction.

Thanks for the help and yes there are empty shells in the chambers and I'm going to try this outside with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. I live out in the country with no body close by. Thanks again
