So I came across this sword cane and I am trying to figure out exactly what it is and how old it is. It has a carbon steel blade so it isn't "that new". It came from an estate cane collection. Most of the canes were from the late 1800's and early 1900s. I realize that doesn't mean this cane is from that period. The carving on the shaft is rather crude. It reminds me of an African or Jamaican carving for a "tourist trinket". It has a "face" carved into the end of the handle. The blade was sharpened at some point. The blade also has scars on it as if it was used as a machete at some point in its life.
I have done my best to photograph it but it was difficult due to its dark color. In some of the pictures I have over driven the color saturation in order to help show the details.
Any information or insight you could provide would be appreciated. I would love to know what it is, where it is from, it's age, and approximate value (if any).
