Hi guys, Need some help, I have a friend who will sell me anib model
66-4 for $800.00 or a 66-5 for $725.00 i have been looking for a 686-4
2.5" barrel nib with no luck. I do like the look of the 66. My consern is I have read about the forcing cone cracking. I would mostly shoot 38+p
or 357 - 145 grain silvertips, and some 125 grain 357 loads. Just wanted some advise from the experts here. Thanks

That is way to high for a model 66.You can find one in like new condition for a lot less.I would not pay over $475, $500 tops for a new dash 4.

That would eventually lead to problems.

Oh, and the guns are overpriced.

thanks, I thought that was way to high. I did not want to say anything until I had some advice

For some price comparisons - I have bought the following used in the past couple of months.

66-3 4", very good to excellent shape - $350
65-3 3", very good shape - $475 (a little high, but I wanted it)
640-3 2", LNIB - $350

Again, it sounds like his guns are in great shape, but he wants high NIB prices for them.

Cheers,

Rhino

Did you say, "friend"? In my neck of the woods a pre-lock, 4" Model 66 will run about $450 to $500.

Be patient - or put an ad in the WTB section of the Forum classifieds.

Good Luck,

Jerry

keep searching for the 686 that you prefer to have...let your greedy pal find someone else to milk.

you say you're looking for a NIB 686-4, but here's a 686-1 for a lot less than what he wants for either of the 66s....

note, it has been relisted several times with the same starting bid price. that tells you that even it is priced too high. do a search on Gunbroker, you could find better deals
