Help with date on 64-3

I recently picked up a 64-3 and can't seem to find the serial number range in the catalog. It's a 3" HB RB and the serial number is BBA24xx so it has to be in the 1980's. I am fairly new to trying to date revolvers so any help would appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Your Md 64-3 began production in 1977 and ran up to 1988 when the 64-4s began. Your serial number puts it into the 1988 year of production. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. Did I just miss something in the catalog? I have 4 other revolvers that I found dates on rather easily.

Smith and Wesson 64-3

I have just purchased my first gun in preparation for a first steps firearms class. It is a 64-3 38 spl 4 inch barrel. I added the Crimson Trace Laser Grips. I gather from reading posts that this gun was likely manufactured in the mid-80's but would be curious to have more specific information. The serial no. is AJA1179. Can anyone look this up for me? Thanks!
