Help with DOM

I have a S&W revolver, 6" barrel, M&P 38. Serial #S973183, 38 special. When the cylinder is dropped down you can see this #,59907 with a J above that. 3 screws on right side. 1 screw in front of trigger gaurd. 1 screw in front gripstrap. Did not take grips off to check for screws. If anyone knows date of manufacture it would be appreciated. Thanks

The SCSW shows...1945 - 1948 S811338 - S999999
so I would guess 1947/48.
There is another screw under the grips and that is a 5 screw model. The strain screw in the front strap is not counted.

Your K frame would have shipped in 1948. Could have been manufactured as stated above in '47/'48, but exact date of manufacture is only available by requesting a factory letter. Cost is $50 and link to the request form is below.

On the inside of the revolver box someone wrote purchased 1948 in cincinnati ohio. Glad to see that DOM is really 1948. Thanks for all the info.
