Help with Mod 10

I would appreciate help identifying the age of the S&W model 10 my brother inherited from our father. Sorry, no pictures as I don't have possession of the revolver. He was a reserve police officer in the 60's and this was his service revolver. It says Mod-10 27700 RW and the s/n is C467xxx. If I remember correctly it is a blued, 4 inch tapered barrel. Thanks for any information.

The Catalog says it was born in 1960.

I show one with a slightly lower SN which was shipped in late 1959. So the late 1959 to early 1960 period should be about correct. The Model 10 stamping in the yoke area began around C438xxx.

And, it is most likely a Model 10 no dash. Sure would like to see some pics of it.

Tell your brother you'll give him a few hundred for it. If he doesn't bite then go find one for yourself. They are on gunbroker , LGS, pawn shops etc. in that serial number range that corresponds to your birthday. Everyone should have at least one Model 10, either tapered or heavy barrel, your choice. Personally I would get one of each........
