Hi, I bought this shiny Md 15-3 used many years ago. The serial number is 6K227XX. It looks chrome plated, but I don't know. Under the barrel is the letter "Z" stamped (pic included). On the left side of the grip frame is the letter "Z". On the right side of the grip frame is the letter "U" in a square box and the letter "Z" in a circle. There is some damage to the cylinder shown in the picture, otherwise it looks really good. You can feel damage with your fingernail. It doesn't look like the finish is flaking, more like it was dropped maybe? The previous owner sold it to me "as is" and didn't have any info on the refinish (I doubt it came from the factory like this but maybe).

Regardless, if someone knows what the "Z" and "U" mean I'd appreciate the feed back.

Thanks
Chris

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

I'm getting feeble minded in my old age!!!!!!!!!!!

The Z is an N!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My compliments to those with more sense than I!!------but your time is coming!!

I'm suitably embarrassed. The "N" is on the underside of the barrel, rear of the cylinder and on the grip frame. Considering the 4th Edition reports that this Md 15 was born in 1974, this is the most pristine nickle finish I've seen on a used gun. My hat is off to everyone who helped me solve the dilemma.
