Help with Shield versus M&P 9c

The 9c is not comfortable for me to wear iwb. I wear it in a black hawk check 6. If you want in the belt the shield is the way to go. The shorter slide length would be a alot better but it's mostly the thickness.

I own both models, shield & 9c both carry very nice in a N82 tac. holster. Now if you want to put a 17 round clip(with grip ext.) in the 9c and carry thats a different story.coobie:D

Thank you all. As further info, I am constrained by MA law to 10rd max. I really like the 9c better but am concerned about not being able to carry tucked. That's why it is difficult for me because in MA you really can't let anybody see you are carrying.

It comes down to how much more you like the 9c over the Shield vs your concern over printing in public. If you like the 9c a whole lot.. then maybe get the 9c and make it work. If it's a toss up, and you are *very* concerned about printing in public.. then my suggestion is go with the Shield. The Shield is thinner and shorter overall and should be easier for deep conceal.

Unless you bought a restricted 10 rd mag all the 9c standard mags are 12 rd whether flat or with pinky rest. The full size 17 rd mags work fine with or without the x-grip.
My 9C came with two 12rd mags w/pinkie rest. The other day at a LGS a bought one more 12rd mag. My mag hunt continues for one flat base plate 10rd mag & two 17rd mags.

I don't really see the point in your reply. I was merely pointing out (& agreeing with) the mag versatility of the 9C. Plus, even though 17rd mags are doable w/o XGrips I prefer using the XGrips. So, I've purchased two XGrips in anticipation of buying two 17rd mags.

Why not contribute to the actual theme of the thread buy pointing out differences between the Shield & 9C, rather than pick a part my post?

I may have missed that fact in your original post? With 10rd mag limit maybe the Shield is your best choice... or move. However, I think Texas is maxed out but you might consider AZ. ;)

With that thought in mind. I would go with the Shield. You are under the 10rd max and much thinner to hide and not see.

Around here, printing isn't all that much of a deal. People either think you are a LEO in civies, have a CCW permit or it could be a tape measure, cell phone, tool in a sheith...

CCW permits went through the roof when we became a Shall Issue State if that tells you anything. :D

I am trying to decide wether to go with the Shield (which is in stock) or the M&P 9c (which I'm waiting for). What do you like about each? Thanks!

Shield. I love carrying it over my SW990Lc by a wide margin (fairly close in size to the 9c). The Shield is a Big Gun hiding in a small package. It's a little dog with a nice bark and champion bite. It shoots like a dream and even in .40, the felt recoil is mild - definitely on par with its larger cousins.

If the thinness won't adversely affect your grip and shooting aim, and if the reduced capacity isn't an issue, it's an easy decision to go with the Shield, if you ask me.

I would appreciate some help. Each LGS tells me something different. Some say the 9c is completely tuckable. Others say it's to big and the Shield is the way to go. I wear button down Oxford shirts tucked in. I want a gun I can carry in a tuckable IWB. So, what are peoples' experiences with each?
Thank you all.

I have the 9c. I carry in a Galco IWB holster and it hides completely fine. But I ONLY wear un-tucked button down shirts, golf shirts or t-shirts... NEVER tucked in. If I were making a decision based on a shirt being tucked in.. the shield would have to be my choice. It is just thinner period the end. The only problem really is that the shields grip is as long as the compacts, but with the compact you get the double stack mag, hence, it's thicker. You'll be happier with a shield if your going to conceal carry with a tucked in shirt for sure.
