 just bought my 15-22 a couple weeks ago, and I'm in love with it. I've owned a ton of guns over the years, but this is my first AR type of rifle, it's definitely safe to say I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing when it comes to customizing it. I live in Texas, and as far as I know, there's not too much I can't do it (as far as looks go), and that's where my problem lies....I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START!!! I don't know what will and won't work, or what mods I need to do first in order to make other ones work...I feel like such a noob! I've been checking this forum out everynight since I picked mine up, and everybody seems super helpful, any help would definitely be appreciated...

A good start

Would be to check out the pic thread, read everything in this sub forum and slow down a bit.
You will want to think about an optic, ammo and plenty of mags!

That's what I did first.

I hope you DON'T have a clean credit card, if you're not carefull you will get the sickness the rest of us have!!

Don't be afraid to ask questions of the group or an individual here...we're all friends and would love to watch what you build.

Good luck and ask away!!

Regards,

Mark

Yup well said most of us bought our 15-22s as trainers or as a range toy.. so for the most part look threw the pic thread if you find somethin that you like how it looks then pm the owner and ask some questions. The main thing is to set it up for the type of plinking you plan to do.. if you want to punch paper in rapid fire and shoot with a larger optic that's your choice but don't expect this rifle to shoot 1/2moa cause it won't. If the running and gunning is more your speed then a red dot or rrages eotech knock off would be a great optic. Or you can do like me, I run a 3-9x42mm mkII tactical scope and a reflex sight on a 11 o'clock mount.. dressing it up is half the fun

I don't have a problem... I could quite if I wanted too...

We all say that.
kilo212 check out my web site or BELT_FED I'm sure you will find any number of combinations that you would be more than happy with.
My first mod was a free float hand guard.

...and Tacticool22's free float adapter is a wonderful accessory to get. You will find it on all of the 15-22's in the picture thread that are wearing different handguards.

When I got my rifle, I wanted to put together what I call my ultimate night fighter rifle ( not that I entend to do any real fighting with it ). What I realy wanted was to be able to use it at night when foxes and other preditors are on the prowl. I live on a small farm and raise livestock.
I have mounted a NcStar 2x6x28 scope, a NcStar lazer with remote switch, and a powerful light with remote switch. I am very satisfied with my set up! The only other changes I may make are a Hogue grip and possibly a lighter trigger spring.
