I'm thinking about trading for a new Henry "yellowboy" .22. Does anyone here have one and if so how is the quality? I have a Taurus revolver I'm thinking of trading for it at a local pawn shop. Any help will be appreciated.

Have one and it is a very nice rifle. Mine is several years old so I don't know if the quality has slipped any but mine is nice fitting and shoots great. Only thing that is weird is that the butt stock is made authentic and when you bring it up it doesn't contact your cheek. Kinda awkward, but that is the way they were built back when. Have been meaning to build a leather cheek rest, just haven't had the time and thought coincide so I shoot it like it is.

Ive become used to the feel, but its different, kind of a chin weld.Thats why I'm looking for a blue gun, less drop.

I don't have the Henry Golden Boy, but I do have the Henry octagon-barreled .22. The action is probably one of the smoothest I've ever tried right out of the box. The receiver isn't steel, however. I think it's zinc or perhaps some alloy. If that doesn't bother you, it's a great little gun.

I got my Golden Boy 5 years ago. It's a great rifle, and I love it. So does my wife, and she claimed it. She says it's the only rifle I have that feels comfortable to her.
So three years ago I went out and bought a H-001T, the Frontier model, so now we both have Henrys to use. It's the smoothest lever-action I've ever fired.

Got mine a few months ago. Sure do like it!:)

That's the thing that has held me back from the Yellow Boy, just don't like how it does not come up to my cheek. To me, it's just awkward, so I've not bought one.

However, the action on those Henry's are awesome; very smooth! Overall, nice/solid gun, if you like the ergonomics. The Henry action seems smoother than any Winchester or Marlin that I own...

I don't care for the Henry 'blued' version, it's some sort of coating, or paint, but still has that nice smooth action. If they put a better finish on that gun, I'd buy it.

I had a black receiver version Henry. Beautiful walnut and a super smooth action, but the paint (epoxy, I believe) on the receiver chips away easily making the rifle look cheap. They are generally very accurate. Still made in the USA.

I have one that is about ten years old.
Mine is .22 magnum though. When I bought it my friend bought a .44 'Big Boy". The only thing I have had trouble with is the washer breaking that holds the magazine tube tight.

I would have made the front sight a little thicker, overall I enjoy the rifle and no regrets on my caliber choice.

I have a blue one with the large loop lever. I have 2
Ruger 10/22's. Wish I had 3 Henry's ;) Mine will shoot
circles around the Rugers. Dime size one hole 5 shot groups
are easy ay 33 yards if you do your part. Fit & finish is
very good and it has the smoothest lever action I ever
felt. I have a Tasco 3x9 scope on mine and when I go
squirrel hunting, its my go to gun.

I have a three year-old Henry Golden Boy .22WMR that is a very accurate rifle, I have a Leupold 2-7x28mm rimfire scope on it.
As others have said, it is a very nicely finished and well made rifle.
I believe you will be very pleased with your trade at the pawn shop.

I made the trade about 3 weeks ago and I'm happy with it. I did add a scope though as my older eyes can't quite focus the sight very well! As some others have said it has a very slick action. I like it.

A big loop carbine is on my short list. Wife's uncle bought a standard rifle a year or so ago, and I was duly impressed.

If it were me, I'd have done the same. Ditch the Taurus for the Henry. I have 7 different models and they are all top notch .22s!
