Here's Something You Never See.......

I have never seen another 4 Screw PRE Mod 26. Sales of the Pre 26 crashed when the Mod 1955 came to be. A few Model Marked Mod 26s exist. The Mod 26 was dropped in 1961. Roy says they exist as Mod 26, Mod 26-1, and Mod 26-2.

So, if only one Mod 26, and only one Mod 26-1, and only one Mod 26-2 were made, though there are almost certainly more than one of each, then your NON Model marked 4 Screw is definitely RARE. The Mod 26s and probably the Mod 26-1s would also be 4 Screws.
I think you got a great deal. I suppose the few scattered freckles held the price down, combined with bidders not knowing how rare that gun is. I thought it would do better.

Merry Christmas.

Well, I don't think these guns were that popular from the get go, I don't think many people are aware of them. I only bought it as a N frame collector. It will never be fired by me.

To your point about freckling. I never noticed it in the pics, and never noticed it when I inspected it at my FFL. Neither did any other people or the owner at the gun store. I looked back and saw a few specks in the pics but not in person. may have been the photo or too small to see with the naked eye. I looked again and see what you are talking about in the pics but not in person. I think gun photography is dang near impossible.

Gun photography is most certainly dang near impossible IF ANY direct lighting is involved. Beyond that, tend to your focus---intently!

These words of wisdom come to you from one who has photographed exactly one gun---three times---and it worked!

It has also come to you from one who has viewed Mr. Garner's (RKMesa) work with no small amount of admiration. I say "work", more like art---of the highest order.

It's THE definition of "been there and done that"----more than a few times!
