Hello. I'm a 22 year old shooter from MI. I have purchased a nickel 5" model 27-2 and a blued 6" model 27-2 as my first two guns (probably shouldn't have made such big purchases). I'm hoping to learn more about S&W's and guns in general here. I plan to start reloading in the future when I acquire more space, funds, and high-cost caliber firearms.

Welcome to the forum from TN.

Wow! Talk about diving right in! 😆
Post some pics of these two beauties!

I don’t reload, but there’s some good info in this thread on how to get started with not a lot of space or investment:

Welcome to SWF! Good to have you here.

Welcome from the middle of the mitten. I recently added a 27-2 5 inch nickel to the family. IMHO your next one should be a K22. Your off to a great start congratulations

Welcome from CA friend! Great finds! You’re off to a fantastic start and this site is a WEALTH of knowledge!

Betting there will be plenty of “advice” in this thread so take a lot of it with a grain of salt…mine most of all as I may well be corrected by many of the more knowledgeable members.
That said, here comes mine…

Ask a LOT of questions here because you are unlikely to find more knowledgeable folks anywhere else, particularly about the Model 27 as it is what the original “Registered Magnum” evolved into, you’ll learn about that here and so much more!

Good luck on your journey!

OBTW - I’m thinking a 5” nickel Model 27 -2 is a pretty rare find.

Welcome from South Mississippi. You will find some extremely knowledgeable folks here. 2 27’s? What a great start. As mentioned, get yourself a K22. They are a blast to shoot!

Welcome to the forum from Maine. You sure started with some great pistols. I have an 8-3/8 blued M27 that I got for my high school graduation back in 1972. I have had three 27s in the past as well as some 28s, and 520s. Have fun with them they can also be an investment.
