Hey!, California...Hold my beer!

I'm still having trouble figuring out who and how they think these things up. What the heck is going on there???

These fools and their ill-conceived ideas are just plain ignorant of reality...

God help this country.

Just to put your mind to rest lest you think I was misquoted that is my feeling exactly having lived here for 63 years.

My brother has lived there for over 25 years, hasn't been shot yet. Although he is getting tired of the corruption. The aldermans run the city like it's their own little fiefdoms.

In Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, Juliet says, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

In other words you can call a certain animal Mephitis mephitis, but no matter what you call it...it's still a skunk!

Euphemism is how we avoid unpleasant truths. Sneaking across the border is no longer illegal, just "undocumented". The people we called pushers or dope dealers are probably "unlicensed pharmacists" now and burglars engage in "alternative wealth redistribution".

Illinois politicians have a vested interest in softening the stigma of a criminal conviction since so many of them leave office that way.

Given a few minutes, a sheet of paper and a pencil...I could come up with a list of negatives for every state in the union, including my own. And Denver CO. would most definitely hold a prominent position in the list. I could also make a list of great things about every state...CA would be in that list. Home is where the heart is.

Where I usually find the biggest negatives is in states with one or more large cities. I lived in Washington for quite a few years, have worked in Oregon and California always in the trades where you will find good honest hard working people. Washington is a great state, but its policies are dominated by Seattle Tacoma. Oregon, by Portland and Salem. Same goes for CA, San Fran, Sacramento, LA and San Diego. The rural areas of all are filled with honest hard working people with "conservative" views. You mention Colorado and that is because of Denver and Colorado Springs. Heck most of Montana's fruit cake ideas come from the 2nd and 3rd largest cities, both with Universities and a large influx from the large west coast cities. Crime is of course a feature of the and the largest city which actually has remained pretty "Montana" politically, but it is agriculture and actual manufacturing business based.

All states have problems with the large cities. They have the most of the population so the run the rest of the states. The also have the most fruit cakes and nuts. Illinois is a beautiful state without the Great Lakes cities, same throughout the rest of the country. I went to a gun show in a barn in rural Illinois several years ago. They had some nice stuff I wanted to look at but I was not allowed to touch it without the Illinois FOID card.
