OK, I'm serious now. I REALLY need to find the best way to post pictures here using my Mac. I can drag pictures over from my desktop into the thread but it shows up saying "my name desk top" and via a file it leads directly to my desktop when opened. Will that info show up in the thread once I "submit new thread"? Mrs. Kozmic says "no" but.....?????

I've seen the threads about flickr and photo bucket. I'm not apposed to either but wondering if I can bring them over directly and anonymously from desktop or do I need an outside host?

Sorry to beat this dead horse! Thanks fellow Mac'ers!

You will need an outside host. I have used Photobucket but there are others. I I can figure it out without a teenager, you will. Look forward to your pics.

When you post the pic it doesn't show the file name or anything like that.

You don't need photo bucket or anything else, but use it if you want.

Here's how I do it:

I generally copy the photos I'm about to post over to the desktop, although this isn't strictly necessary.

First, click "manage attachments".

This will bring up a separate window, the first line of which is "upload files from your computer".

Click the gray "browse" button in this, which will bring up a finder window. Locate your photo file you wish to upload, click on it, then click the "open" button in the finder window.

The finder window will go away, leaving the attachment window. Locate the blue "upload" button, and click it. After a few moments, the file should upload, and the "manage attachments" window will go away. You can confirm that the file uploaded by looking above the "manage attachments" button-the file name will appear there

Stolen from a posting on Calguns.net:

In order to post a picture on the forum you need to have it hosted online on a web server. There are several free ones out there, here are a couple of the better ones.

http://www.Photobucket.com
http://www.upitall.com

Both of them are free and for the most part you register an account just like you do to join a forum. Most will also give you the necessary url and encoding to post your pictures in your post.

Once you have uploaded your pictures and copied the url for the picture you are ready to post it in your thread.

There are two ways to do this.
1) If your photo hosting site gives you a link to paste that has the proper tags you can just paste it in to your post. It should look something like this:
url]
but without the spaces.

2) If you have the url for the picture you can manually add the necessary tags yourself. simply type
after it. It should end up looking like this:
url]
Again make sure you do not have spaces between the tags and the url or in the url itself.

With either of these methods your picture should show up in your post as an image.
