Not about to try and figure out a fix for their communications. In some places, carrying devices as this is like telling everyone all they need to know. I stopped carrying a cell phone except for emergencies. Leave a text.

I think the answer is someplace between karma and divine intervention.
Did the same thing with cell phones a while back. Sent high end phones with mini explosive charges thru the back channel to known pirates who they knew would disseminate them to high value targets. Lotta terrorists lost their skulls. Thankfully, they didn't learn from that . . .
The New York Post and other sources are reporting that the Mossad intercepted the shipment of pagers and put PETN inside near the batteries. They also found a way to detonate that when they wanted to.

I understand Hezbollah bought the pagers from a shady manufacturer of knock-off products, Bomb & Mercier.
PETN is nasty stuff. More than one terrorist has "self eliminated" their threat due to cooking up IED's with it. The Israelis are technologically sophisticated, although sparking off 2800 25 gm loads simultaneously is next level, even for them. Joe

The terrorists have switched to pagers for some of their communications because the Israelis had tapped into so many of their phones and their networks.
This new trick was pulled off after the Israelis intercepted a huge shipment of pagers headed for the Hezbolla territories. They disassembled the pagers, inserted the small explosive devices, reassembled the pagers, repacked them, and sent them on their way when finished.
Brilliant.

I hear the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon was one of the "exploded". Bet he regrets pulling rank and snagging one of those cool new pagers......
