Hi my names Darren from the UK.
I collect pistols from the era 1900~1945 and more recently have been more interested in researching than actually collecting, sadly in the UK we have ridiculous arms laws that only lets us own obsolete calibre handguns that still work all others have to be deactivated to Birmingham proof house regulations IE part of barrels blocked, firing pins removed etc then the weapon sent off for inspection and a certificate issued saying it is legal.
Everything externally looks as it should and mechanicaly works as it should (cocks, dry fires, strips down) but thats it.
Despite this 'deactivated' firearms in UK have been steadily rising in value for the last 20 years ( I bought a BAR 1918A2 3 years ago for £300 and sold it this year for £1000).
I have been buying lots of excellent books recently (mostly from your great country the only place that produces them) and they have left me asking more questions about some of the weapons I have before I even started. (will post questions in the relevent area soon).
Just wanted to say hi and thankyou for the great USA for helping to save our small proud nation during the second world war god bless you all.
Just wanted to add if any of you own any FN Browning pistols of the era 1899~1945 and want any info on them (dating, what the marks mean, is it rare etc etc) send me a PM and I will be happy to help as this is my area of expertise.
